Pulling up with the whole pod
If you couldn’t get enough of the orca hero story arc, I have great news.
The same pod that was terrorizing boats in October 2023, are back. They haven’t sunk anything yet but there has been a sighting of them stalking a yacht off the coast of Spain. Thankfully, no one has been injured or killed, so we can continue to enjoy this heart-warming story of the mega-rich entering the “find out” portion of the disrespecting the sea saga.
If you’re not familiar with the pod and their antics, apparently it all started with a female orca who attacked boats and then taught the other orcas her technique. We love to see the power of a matriarchy in action.
Keep an eye out for more from our mischievous marine friends. The saga continues!
That’s billion with a B
It seems that as a reward for the continued assault on Rafah (including killing 18 children over the weekend), the U.S. will be sending an additional $26 billion in aid to Israel. Of that total, $9 billion is designated for humanitarian assistance.
The House passed the bill containing the aid package on Saturday. It also included aid to Ukraine and a ban on Tic Tac Toe, IYKYK.
If you’re looking for people who aren’t turning a blind eye to the humanitarian crisis (unlike Anthony Blinken) in Gaza, keep your eyes on the Freedom Flotilla. The group is an international coalition supporting Palestinians, advocating to end the illegal Israeli blockade of Gaza, promoting human rights and solidarity.
The flotilla is expected to set sail later this month, carrying food and medicine. Keep focused on this effort, and tell as many people as you can. The more eyes on this, the safer those aboard will be.
While billions flow to Israel, the Freedom Flotilla sails to break the blockade. Stay tuned and spread the word.
From Watcher to Watched
In more news related to going well over a budget, subscribers of Watcher Entertainment were stunned late last week when the founders announced they were leaving Youtube. Citing the costs to support higher quality content, they are introducing their own streaming service starting at $6 per month.
Considering that’s now the price of a 6-inch sub from Subway (remember when there was a $5 footlong?) fans were understandably furious.
But my favorite Hermanos Fantasmas heard the public outcry, came to their senses, and quickly reversed their decision yesterday.
The misstep aligns with a theme that has continued to crop up in recent months. Celebrities and even quasi-celebrities like content creators and influencers, have completely lost the plot and are moving further from their audience. In most cases, this disconnect ends in shock when their audience completely disagrees with the changes they’re making and no longer wants to consume their content.
As corporate greed continues to push most Americans to the brink of financial ruin just to survive, it does make you stop and consider what you’re willing to pay for the things that keep you entertained.
Watcher Entertainment's misstep shows the importance of staying connected to your audience. What's worth the price?
Taylor, please remove the hidden cameras from my apartment
Can I send a cease and desist? After listening to The Prophecy, I think Taylor is spying on me. Or reading my mind.
I’ve lived solo for so long I hardly notice that most people are paired up by now. The dating horror stories I hear both online and in person are enough to make me realize that being alone is better than settling for someone who makes you miserable.
Despite knowing this, life can get lonely. I submit into evidence, The Prophecy.
Miss Swift, you’re a talented menace.
For a musician that hasn’t oversaturated your newsfeed this past year, check out Mon Rovia. This Afro Appalachian folk artist is the soothing balm to whatever painful anxieties are currently on repeat in your mind. My favorite songs so far are Love on the Line and Big Love Ahead. Yes, we continue with the love songs.
